Oasis Magic

I don’t think I can sum up the pure magic that I felt last week at Oasis. My lovely creative partner, Cherish, and I started off with a flight to Vegas where we met up with Tara, Holly and Deb. The next day we made our way to Palm Springs (PS) which took a while longer than expected! And what a trip, filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Currently sitting at my office desk at home, back to reality, fevers, colds, school lunches and runs, work, home and the onset of winter, I feel so lucky to have allowed myself to have this time at Oasis. I must admit, it was a bit strange at first leaving my family for a few days to do something purely for my creative growth. That strange feeling soon vanished though. I hadn’t laughed so much in a long time, mainly due to the wit and antics of my roomie, Cherish.

I couldn’t have said it better thank Leigh Love (what a fab name) in her recent post on Focusing On Life. It really felt that we were a tribe, speaking the same language through a shared love of photography. My creative spark was on a low ebb before Oasis and just being there, soaking it all in and allowing myself to just shoot rejuvenated it.

Leigh’s post also confirmed my feelings that friendships formed from a shared love of a particular something are special.

On our way to PS we came upon a burnt down barn/house and you should have seen my fright when another traveller advised us to be careful of the snakes. yikes!

and then it was naturally the Joshua Tree National Park

We eventually arrived at the ACE Hotel in Palm Springs with butterflies in our stomachs.

The next morning we woke up to glorious sunshine which was on the menu for the duration of our stay. For us Vancouverites, where rain flows most of the year, sunshine is a much needed therapy.

The ACE was a fantastic location for Oasis.

Without thinking much I just soaked it all in.

Reconnections were made. Here is the lovely Corinna. x

Lensbaby lenses were used. I love this one of Audrey aka MamaOwl.

We got to play with our iPhones under water thanks to the Lifeproof cases. Here are Stephanie and Tracey having fun.

The Polaroid workshop with Andrea aka HulaSeventy was just great. If you know me well then you know that I have a love of instant and film photography however I shy away a little from the cost of the Impossible films. That didn’t stop me from bidding on a 680 SLR which I will receive soon. yay!

I also really enjoyed using the lensbaby, definitely on my list of lenses to either buy or rent for future use.

And here is Cherish. She rocked those boots didn’t she?

Did you hear that we are scheming to get Deb over to the West Coast? Deb we need your wit and wonderful self here!

Gorgeous Cyndy B.

It was great to meet and shoot Meghan, with her piercing blue eyes and beautiful flaming hair. What a wonderful combination!

I look forward to future reconnections soon. Thank you to Tracey, Myriam, Stephanie, Xanthe, Kim, Jen and everyone else for making it magic. x
