Ani on Polaroid

I love this girl. I love photographing with my Polaroid cameras. I love Impossible film. It creates so many possibilities which appear like magic in front of your eyes.

Yes, this girl is magic too.

This girl

Some days my girl and I stay home all day and read, play and allow ourselves some alone time. On days like this, while I potter about the house doing this and that suddenly I realise that it is all quiet and she is nowhere to be heard. I slowly tiptoe to where she is and I find her completely engrossed in what she is doing be it drawing, colouring, playing with her stuffies. I linger there a moment and watch her. Sometimes, I pick up the camera and simply photograph her.

Portraits

I have realised in the past little while that I really love taking portraits. Mainly of my kids as they are with me most of the time. I do have a couple of Haig too, one I took with Impossible film a few months ago which I really like. I will share those with you soon.

These portraits and selfie below were taken at different times and when looking at them I wonder what I thought when framing the picture. Did I know that the lines in the portrait of Ani would correspond to each other somehow making it an image not just about Ani but everything else around her.

And this one of Jivan, I know why I took it. The sun had peeped its head out in the late afternoon and was saying hello in our bedroom. He just happened to be there on our bed and the light was just stunning on him. I love how with black and white it shows the moodiness of the moment and of him as I had to coerce him to pose for a second. He is a seven year old moody boy who at times is ever so loveable!

Noravank, Datev & Karahunj

From our trip to Armenia last summer 2012. We took a day long trip to Noravank, Datev & Karahunj. Well worth it especially as we rode the world’s longest aerial tramway!

Railway & Birds on Film

Following from my last Railway and Birds post here are some medium format pictures in black and white. If you follow my blog, you might have noticed that I love photographing in b&w especially with old school film. Actually, it makes my heart go pitter patter…

Reminiscing about Oasis

I have just gotten round to scanning all my medium format film from our Oasis trip back in October 2012! What beautiful gems I found in those rolls of film. Looking at these pictures makes me wish I could transport myself back there again, in sunny warm Palm Springs, with all these beautiful women even if just for one evening.

Lovely Audrey aka MamaOwl

The paparazzi – Audrey & Meghan

Paparazzi in tutus – that would pretty much sum up Oasis :)

Beautiful Xanthe.

Won’t do at all to show Xanthe without colour!

Vivienne & Xanthe – pure authentic connections, another way to sum up Oasis.

Railway & Birds

There is this place in North Vancouver where Industrial meets Nature. We pass it quite often to and fro my parents in law and each time I am in awe watching the trains carrying grain (I think) go by clonking away. Their clonks then alarm the birds and they in turn make a melody with their flight. It might not be a place of beauty to most but to me it is surreal and quite magical.

Sam, Pete & Booky – Vancouver Lifestyle Photography

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Samantha Reynolds and her lovely family. It was her husband Pete’s birthday and she wanted to capture this day as a treat for him.

It was a real joy to photograph this beautiful family. They live in a wonderful home with plenty of light and there was a certain ease to the time I spent with them and Booky was a trooper!

Thank you Sam, Pete and Booky!

Neighbours in Sevan

I still have a few photos from our Armenia trip back in August 2012 that I would still like to post up. Here is a short series that I did at my Aunt Alice‘s neighbour’s house in Sevan.
